Do you remember when you first saw Julia Roberts? Maybe it was all the way back in 88' when you saw her as Daisy in "Mystic Pizza", or maybe a few years later as the endearing Vivian in "Pretty Woman". As for me, I was probably captivated somewhere in between the 2nd & 3rd grade, when i wasn't putting on a red headband and imitating my favorite misunderstood ninja turtle, she unexpectedly charmed her way into my heart as the tiny Tinkerbell in Spielberg's classic "Hook". I vividly remember feeling unconsciously happy when her small frame, and large smile appeared onscreen. It was that mouth. It was those perfect rows of enamel. Cotton color. Processed in high-definition (or so it seemed). Her smile is still famous today, especially in my world.
The idea of delivering a fun, vibrant, colorful photo shoot to their parents for Christmas spawned these images. These three youthful individuals own smiles that were popularized by the aforementioned 90's leading lady. I became acquainted with this realization hours after our shoot, I had this rebirth of appreciation for my job simply because they grinned the crap out of me. I mean how strange is that? Of course it helped that they were charismatic, but it was those smiles man. They left a lasting imprint and momentarily changed my current attitude. I've always been a firm believer in the power of a smile. Witness that power. This is the Vatsaas family.
